International News: In a shocking revelation, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, has claimed that the former Prime Minister is being targeted for assassination inside prison. According to her, the state machinery is deliberately isolating Khan. Family visits have been blocked, and lawyers are being denied access. She alleges that the delay in bail hearings is part of a wider conspiracy. Aleema believes that a systematic effort is underway to “eliminate Imran from politics permanently.” The claim has intensified Pakistan’s already volatile political atmosphere.

Adiala Jail Under Spotlight

Khan is being held at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail — a facility now under intense public scrutiny. Aleema Khan stated that even basic facilities, like fan and cooler, sanctioned by the court, are rendered useless by cutting off power. She raised concerns about Khan’s health and safety, asserting that even doctors are not allowed to meet him. This isolation, she warned, may not be accidental. Her chilling statement: “Anything can happen, at any time,” has sparked a wave of outrage among PTI supporters and global human rights observers.

Asim Munir in the Crosshairs

Aleema Khan has directly accused Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir of running an undeclared martial law. She claims the judiciary is no longer independent and acts under military command. The political targeting of Imran Khan, she argues, is being orchestrated by the military establishment. According to her, the aim is to erase Khan politically and possibly physically. These are some of the strongest accusations made openly against the current military leadership in recent times.

From PM to Prisoner

Once hailed as Pakistan’s most popular leader, Imran Khan’s fall began after a rift with then-Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa in 2022. Soon after, Khan’s government was toppled, reportedly with military support. His arrest on May 9, 2023, led to massive protests, including attacks on military installations. That day shifted the power dynamics in Pakistan permanently. Since then, Khan has faced over 200 cases ranging from corruption to sedition. The state seems determined to keep him behind bars indefinitely.

Courts No Longer Neutral

Aleema Khan’s most scathing remarks were directed at the judiciary. She stated that whenever Imran gets bail in one case, he is rearrested in another. “Judges are either under pressure or complicit,” she said. The Pakistani legal system, once seen as a hopeful check on military excesses, now appears toothless. The narrative suggests a nation where due process has collapsed and power rests outside constitutional boundaries. Legal experts within Pakistan are also raising alarm over judicial silence.

Imran’s Future in Limbo

With restricted access, growing health concerns, and constant legal entanglements, Imran Khan’s future looks uncertain. His supporters fear that the worst may already be in motion. Global watchdogs have urged transparency in his treatment. Yet, the silence from Pakistan’s ruling establishment only deepens suspicions. Khan’s political story, once built on promises of “Naya Pakistan,” now hangs between survival and tragedy. And if Aleema Khan’s fears prove true, history may soon add another dark chapter to Pakistan’s democracy.
